SUMMARY:Radiant Power
DESCRIPTION:26th August 2018\nFire | Radiant Power\n$90 before 24th August | $120 after 25th August \nThe fire element governs our solar plexus\, which is the home of personal power. Our ego\, sense of self\, inner and physical strength\, determination and dedication are all related to this energy center. How we show up in the world\, how we relate to\, what inspires us and why is the focus of this workshop. \nWhere do you find the wisdom to navigate your own uniqueness? What are the best sources of wisdom for you? Do you shy away from a challenge or do your over commit and find yourself left feeling burnt out? Understanding where your journey begins is essential. \nThis workshop will hold a space for you to question your motivations. Where you are in your journey and where you can take it. Tap into your inner coach\, look at your deepest values\, and acknowledge the critical voices and determine their validity. Is this voice really something you need to act on or is it the voice that has always keep you doing the same thing because it feels safe and familiar? \nIt’s time to tap into your power and own it\, and you own it by stepping up to whatever challenges confront you rather than running away.  \nOne way is to join us as we lead you through 108 Sun salutes –  The act of practicing 108 Sun Salutations draws together some very potent yogic practices that help us to work through challenges.  Bhakti (devotion\, when we are devoted we act from the heart) Seva (Selfless service) and Tapas ( effort\, heat\, discipline\, zeal). (click here to read more about Surya Namaskar (108 Sun Salutes))  \nThere are times when we feel sluggish and disconnected\, but when we turn up the heat – our burning desire to make an impactful difference pierce through our concerns\, doubts\, and fears that hold us back.  Have you ever felt that burst of energy that arises from knowing full body you’ve had enough? You have to change\, to act\, cause it hurts too much to do nothing This is an effortful act of surrender towards a higher purpose. This is equally a legitimate and potent opportunity to uplift and reinvigorate your yoga practice.  To bring in the fire to transform the mundane to the extraordinary. \n“I am told the Sun represents the physical and spiritual heart of the world. We salute the Sun to give thanks for a new day filled with life-giving light and sustenance. Based on the sacred cycle of 108- Surya Namaskar is a complete practice of mind\, body\, spirit. During the Ground to Grow Workshop I was given the opportunity and supported to participate in this powerful sequence that allowed me to lengthen\, strengthen\, flex and extend many of the main muscles of my body while distributing the prana flow throughout my system. The fluid\, rhythmic postures awakened the energy of my Inner Sun that laid dormant in my navel center for so long following my executive lifestyle and some recent trauma that caused me to feel numb and out of touch with my creative and playful side. As I moved through the postures I felt at ease even though I was focused in my mind and enlivened in my breath. It warmed my body and cultivated my inner fire. I walked away following this challenging and exhilarating karmic marathon feeling strong and able to face anything. I felt at peace yet awakened. I felt full of light and grace. I felt great. This workshop paved a path to the receptive state of meditation and transformation for me and I am so grateful for the experience that Tanya and Alison created for me” – Mariza \nx———————————————-x \nTaught by senior teachers Alison Sykes and Tanya Zappala\, this workshop has been created to help anchor you into something greater than just your yoga practice. In a supportive group environment\, you will be guided to adapt the teachings of yoga for your own evolution. Tanya and Alison provide an opportunity to connect with like-minded people\, form friendships\, gain knowledge to improve your yoga practice in a warm\, empathetic and fun environment. Learn the best alignment for you in yoga postures (Asana). Breathing practices (Pranayama) to reduce wear and tear as well as nourish your organs and nervous system. Inspirational Philosophy talks and learn how Meditation can be instinctive and empowering. \nEach student will work in their own way\, at their own pace and learn how these ancient teachings can be applied to their own busy modern life. ‘We may have advanced in may ways materially and with technology\, but when it comes to our emotions\, thoughts\, feeling or our spirituality\, we are still babes in the woods’. These workshops provide the perfect place and space that isn’t always available in general yoga classes. \nBOOK IN HERE

SUMMARY:RESTorative Yoga - 10 Dec
DESCRIPTION:Sometimes you’ve just got to slow everything right down.\nWhen your life is racing full-speed ahead\, so is your mind. Restorative yoga helps provide that physical and mental balance to prevent stress and anxiety\, through the use of props that allow you to hold poses longer\, giving you all the benefits of deep\, passive stretching. \nBenefit from Full and Deep Stretches –  Long\, supported poses help your body to fully engage\, soften\, and allow the precise positioning to work its magic. \nEnhance Flexibility – Restorative yoga is not a stretching class\, instead you are exploring what happens when you release the tension your body habitually holds. \nFind out Where You Hold Your Stress – Holding poses longer in a relaxed state gives you the opportunity to notice where you hold this tension.  Once you come to this realization\, the benefits come with you off the mat so in your everyday life you can help to reduce the stress and tension you allow to build up in your body. \nTrim Fat and Lose Weight – A 2013 study from the University of California\, San Diego compared restorative yoga with a more active stretching regime over 48 weeks\, and found that women practicing yoga lost more subcutaneous fat. The yogis also lost more weight than the stretchers. One explanation may be that restorative yoga reduces cortisol levels—of which high levels are linked to increased abdominal fat. \nBoost Your Immune System – slowing down consciously relaxes the mental drain on your nervous system. A regular restorative yoga practice helps to improve your immune system and makes you less of a victim in the face of all those cold and flu viruses flying around. \nBalance Your Nervous System – slowing down take your body into a state that allows for renewal and rejuvenation. Your nervous system goes from fight and flight (The sympathetic nervous system is activated in cases of emergencies to mobilize energy) to rest and digest (the parasympathetic nervous system is activated when organisms are in a relaxed state). Benefits include optimizing energy flow to the organs\, tissue renewal\, and reduced “fight or flight” response. \nQuiet Your Mind – like a calming hug for your overstimulated mind. It may look like restorative yoga is taking a nap\, but once you get into them\, you realize how challenging they can be. Be patient; just because your body is resting doesn’t mean your mind will automatically grow silent. Over time\, you will learn how to drop into a place of stillness and be content peacefully basking in the present moment. \nRecover from Illness – We all need rest\, whether or not you’re recovering from muscle strain\, a broken bone\, a bad flu\, or a chronic illness. Just because you’re not practicing more “active” asanas doesn’t mean you can’t benefit from yoga’s healing powers. Restorative yoga allows you to practice when your energy is low and your body is building strength. \nHeal Emotional Pain – Just as you need to build physical strength after illness\, you need to heal emotional injuries. Restorative poses offer soothing care for when you are processing the loss of a loved one or a relationship\, coming to terms with a change in your life\, or dealing with depression or anxiety. \nSegue to a Meditation Practice – If you want to benefit from meditation and you’re not sure how to start or how to continue\, Restorative yoga provides a bridge between familiar poses and\, to many\, the unfamiliar and often intimidating practice of meditation. You may feel vulnerable\, emotional or anxious when practicing Restorative yoga—this is all part of the powerful process where you create space and let go. Wearing an eye mask\, wrapping yourself in a blanket\, or keeping your feet up on the wall can help ground and calm you. \nSome poses help your heart\, some assist your lungs. Others benefit the entire body. All are nourishing and life-enhancing when practiced regularly.

SUMMARY:7 week Journey through the Chakras
DESCRIPTION:7 week Chakra Journey\nI am sure that at some point everyone has heard the word “Chakra” thrown around. But what actual does “Chakra” mean? What is it? Are these actually real things that exist or are they just another yoga myth like levitating yogis? Presuming these “chakras” do exist do they actually have any real impact on our health and wellbeing?\nIn this 7 week workshop we will explore what chakras are. How they affect the physical\, emotional and mental body as well as gaining the skills to build awareness of and strengthen these energy systems.\nThere are seven chakras in total and we will spend a whole class focused around each one of the chakras (excluding the crown chakra). Classes will be set at a fairly slow pace similar to a yin styled class. There will be a lot of deep stretching with many poses being held for three to five minutes. The extended time in these poses will not only help us to delve deeper into gaining awareness of the specific chakra. It will help to connect to and regulate breath which has many benefits including stress reduction\, raising energy levels and much more. It also plays a vital role in helping the body restore\, the longer we spend in a pose the deeper we stretch allowing us to stretch into not just the muscles but also the joints\, ligaments\, facia\, connective tissue and muscular emotional storage systems. This is deeply restorative for the body.\nThe classes will also include visualisation\, mediation\, Bundas (energetic locks)\, Pranayama (breathing exercises) as well as mantra chanting.\nThe first two weeks will include a lot of hip openers and work around the pelvis and lower abdomen\, as we work on the areas connected to the two lower chakras (Mooladara and Svadhistana). You will also be introduced to the first Bunda (Moolabunda).\nThe third week will include a lot of twists and side stretches as we work into the third charka (manipura). You will learn about Uddiyana Bunda in this class.\nWeek four will be focused around the forth chakra around the heart space (Anahata)\, this will include a lot of chest expansion and gentle back bending.\nWeek five will take us to our throat chakra (Vishudda). This class will include supported inversions and you will learn about Jalandhara Bunda.\nIn week six we will move up to Ajna chakra. This class will incorporate some balances as well as the mediation/detoxification technique known as Trataka. This will be the last class dedicated entirely to one chakra. We will not spend a whole class dedicated to the crown chakra (sahasrara) as this will move us into a very advanced practice of yoga. We will however still touch on this space in week seven. \nWeek seven will be an extra special class to celebrate the completion of the course and tie together everything we have learned. We also will be intertwining an element of sound healing and will have a live guest flautist Bhakti Goode. He will be playing traditional handmade Indian Bansuri flute. Not only will this enhance the experience and encourage relaxation\, it also has great relevance to the chakras\, as each Chakra can be “activated” by a certain sound or key. In this class we will finish with a nice long Yoga Nidra also know as yogic sleep. This will help to calm an over stimulated mind\, aid in sleep\, aid in restoring the body and so much more!\nI am so looking forward to hosting this event. It is open to all levels; I would just like to recommend arriving to class on an empty stomach. Also anyone that is pregnant or menstruating should let me know as there are some specific poses that should be avoided.\nNAMASTE\nMiriana \nBOOK NOW >\ntestimonial \nI am really enjoying the Chakra journey\, Miriana gives lots of postural options for those that find some of the poses more difficult and corrects any that require it. She has a lovely gentle voice and her guided meditations along with the visualisation has been good for me. I didn’t really know what to expect from this journey but I have found it has opened a few doors and maybe the odd can of worms\, which is positive\, things I know I need to work on. I would definitely recommend this course and it is perfect for the Beginner Level Yoga pupil. I hope you consider doing this again as I think it is worthwhile. – Raelene  \nThe chakra course is great! I enjoy it a lot and get so much out of it! Walk out of the class and feels like I could fly! Would register for another similar course. Times are great as well (6:45 pm start). – Christina \n\nAbsolutely loving the course and classes!. – Amanda\n\nI am enjoying the chakra classes. They are very relaxing and informative. I am thoroughly enjoying all my yoga classes. Thank you for creating such a beautiful space. – Janeen

Throughout the “Shower” different instruments are carried around the room and sometimes placed physically on the body. Flutes and voice are used to create a magical musical journey and overtones charge the brain and energize the body. The aluminum chimes which are at the centre of the Soundshower are tuned to the earth year tone. This tone is the sound created by the earth’s movement around the Sun. The 32nd octave of this movement is C# at 136.1 hertz. This Tone is intimately tied with the year’s cycles and season changes .In India’s ancient tradition this note is considered as the universal sound (Aum) and is the preferred note to tune their instruments and meditate to. Music played by instruments tuned to the earth year frequency naturally slows down brainwave activity and heart rate and induces a deep meditative state. Being exposed to these healing frequencies enhances a physical\, mental and emotional calibration to the human body and energy field . Pure frequencies shift and release stagnant energy and tension accumulated in the body .The Soundshower re-aligns and harmonizes body/mind and is a very relaxing and refreshing experience. It releases stress and anxiety increasing focus clarity and insight. \nInvestment: introductory price of $35 prepaid / $50 tickets at the door \nFor a taste of what to expect: http://youtu.be/AIXVEE5XSrU \nAbout Avishai Barnatan. \nMulti instrumentalist\, producer and Sound therapist Avishai Barnatan plays a variety of exotic wind instruments. He was initially inspired to play music during his extensive travels where he experienced the power of music as a universal language and the immediate way it created unity and opened hearts everywhere he went. Following this realisation\, Avishai became a full time musician involved in many musical and healing projects and has toured internationally with his band Sheva. \nSince 1990 Avishai has been exploring the nature of sound and its therapeutic qualities as a tool for physical & emotional transformation and healing. Inspired by modern scientific research as well as ancient esoteric and mystic knowledge\, he has developed his own style of soundhealing . He facilitates group and private sessions with people of diverse backgrounds and conditions such as various addictions\, anxiety and stress-related symptoms\, applying different techniques of vibrational therapy. These sessions are a deeply nourishing experience.\nAvishai has facilitated “Soundshowers” in festivals such as Wanderlust\, Byron Spirit festival\, Evolve Yoga fest\, Jerusalem Sacred Music Festival and Uplift festival. He regularly holds sessions at Yoga studios around Australia. \n\nFor more info about Avishai\nhttps://www.facebook.com/avishaibarnatanmusic\nwww.avishaibarnatan.com \nBOOK NOW >
