SUMMARY:Chilled Chair Yoga 7 July
DESCRIPTION:Chair Yoga to Live Music \n\nMovement for your body and Music for your Soul. \nA wonderful fusion of beautiful sounds and gentle yoga postures. Both movement and sound vibrations are healing for your body\, mind\, and spirit. And all you need to do is Sit back and Relax… \nThe July 7th Sound Bathed Yoga Session will be bringing together the beautiful healing sounds by Tom Schache with a Chair Yoga Session by Tanya Zappala.    \nChair Yoga is not just for students needing support with their balance or great moves for office workers\, Chair Yoga is anyone that would like to lean in on steady support and hang for a few moments whilst ripples of sounds vibrate through you. \nThis class will start with an adapted flow to gently build some strength which your bones will love you for.  Then sit back and let the chair becomes an extension of your body allowing you to take full advantage of yoga’s health potential… happy days. \nWith the support of the chair means every BODY can experience the integration of body\, mind\, and spirit. The chair replaces the yoga mat and becomes an extension of your body allowing you to take full advantage of yoga’s health potential. Chair Yoga invites you to find mobility in a way that is soft and gentle leaving you feeling calmer and more relaxed\, inevitably leading you into a greater feeling of happiness and well-being. \nThis session finishes with a 40 min supported savasana to allow the sounds to further deepen the healing process by cutting through mental chatter. Together movement and sound bring you into a meditative state which allows your body to heal and repair itself. \nSuitable for everybody \nBOOK INTO THIS EVENT \nNext event 8th September

SUMMARY:Meditation Made Easy: 6 week course
DESCRIPTION:Meditation Made Easy\nWe’ve all heard of the benefits of meditation – reduced stress levels\, improved concentration\, lower blood pressure\, becoming more able to handle living in this crazy world. \nBut why does it seem that Meditation is a chore\, or that it is difficult to achieve the quiet silent mind we are told is required to be good at meditation. \nDeveloping a practice that is for people living in the world today may not necessarily be what you expect – or believe – from what you have traditionally heard meditation should be. \nWhat if meditation were as easy as thinking of something you loved to do and diving deep into that experience; as simple as drinking your favourite beverage or eating sweet chocolate; as full of wonder as looking at the night sky; as natural as enjoying being yourself\, as thrilling as your greatest experience. \nEach week of this six-week course builds skills and experiences that will provide you with the foundation of a practice that is life-affirming and enriching. \nBegin by diving deep into what you love in life and be absorbed in your sensory experience of those moments. \nDiscover that your meditation time is not static and still – but that you flow through cycles of experience – you rest\, heal and prepare for action. Lose the notion that meditation is a forced stilling of the mind or focusing and concentration on the breath – but is an open engagement with own life force. \nExplore your relationship with the elements\, and develop an open inquiry into breath meditations. \nGet in touch with the instincts that drive you – that comes into your awareness – and how these play out in our emotions in your meditation time. \nYou will move\,  – creating our own mudra (gestures) and mantra (words or affirmation) from characteristics you want to further develop in your life. \nLearn to welcome all of who you are – practice skills to tolerate\, accept\, welcome\, embrace and even celebrate your experiences both in our meditation practice and more importantly in life. \nThis course is about meditation as yoga  -tenderly bringing all parts of yourself together – with your life force – and practicing being in tune with your essential nature so that you can move through the world with ease\, grace\, and love. \nPurchase your pass here:\n$150 per person \n$250 with a friend \n$25 casual drop in

SUMMARY:Hips with YogaPhysio Tamara James
DESCRIPTION:From her sellout class on shoulders\, we bring back Senior Yoga Teacher and Physiotherapist Tamara James to educate us on hips. \nWhere do you start with hips\, burning bums\, pain in groins or just general tightness? \nThe hips primary function is to support the weight of the body in both static (e.g. standing) and dynamic (e.g. walking or running) postures. When the hips are out they cause all sorts of grief making yoga classes more pain then pleasure. if you’ve had a back issue in the past\, or hip issues are particularly popular with woman due to our unique anatomy – broader hips and\nchild bearing pelvis. The usual poses that are practiced in normal yoga classes can make these problems worse rather than aid them. It is an area of the body where it helps to understand the anatomy in order to improve such conditions and obtain a balance in the muscles around the hip joint. \nAt the end of this workshop\, you will know the poses that are most helpful for your body\, based upon a deep understanding of anatomy and biomechanics of the area. The workshop will be largely practical and involve working together in small groups to observe and learn the landmarks of the body. \nWe will focus specifically on buttock pain and side hip pain (time permitting groin pain). Anyway\, the understanding of biomechanics that you will gain on the day will be beneficial to other conditions also. \nBOOK INTO HIPS WORKSHOP

SUMMARY:Knowledge and Strength in Asana
DESCRIPTION:Spacious Wisdom – Knowledge & Strength in Asana\nThis workshop will be informative and interactive with the support of two Senior Yoga instructors to help you utilise yoga alignment fundamentals to select the best asana (posture) variations for your practice. \nBe empowered by building strength in your upper body\, and learn how to integrate your whole body for optimal stability and strength in preparation for inversions. \nInversions are categorized as any yoga pose where the head is below the heart. And while Headstand\, Handstand\, Forearm Stand\, and Shoulder Stand immediately come to mind\, there are gentler variations that are more accessible for students early on in their inversion experience. Downward Dog\, Standing Forward Folds\, Legs Up the Wall and Happy Baby are lovely ways in which yoga uses gravity to get your blood moving towards your heart. \nInversions give us a new perspective on life\, literally by turning us upside down. Supported inversions work to calm your nervous system by activating the parasympathetic side that serves to slow the heart rate\, and relax muscles. While the more active variations work on core strength\, improves balance\, and builds confidence. \nInversions increase circulation\, they help get oxygen and blood to your brain to revitalize your mind. The active variations teach you to hone in diffuse thinking to a single point of focus which in Yoga it’s called ‘The Monkey Mind’. Where thoughts jump from one to the next like a monkey swinging from branch to branch. When you turn your world upside down all your attention comes into the moment. \nOnce you start bringing inversions into your practice you awaken your inner child and be reminded that yoga is a contemplative endeavor and the asana practice is a time to be playful and lighthearted! \nAbout The Presenters: \nTanya Zappala\, founder of Clayfield Yoga Studio\, and Alison Sykes\, founder of Clear Skies Yoga are Yoga Australia certified teachers. Tanya & Alison are two of Brisbane’s most experienced and respected teachers. Combined they have delivered hundreds of hours of workshops\, intensives\, retreats\, and private sessions\, both nationally and internationally. \nTanya & Alison share over two decades of intensive training and self-development\, with a commitment to professionalism in yoga instruction. They launched the workshop program “Ground to Grow” in 2017. \nAlison & Tanya unite around their passion for delivering yoga teaching in a practical and accessible way. \nInvestment: $90 prepaid by 1st December Or $120 purchasing pass on the day\nSIGN UP NOW! Click here to complete your registration form. \nPayments can be made via direct deposit to the account below. DESCRIPTION:WORKSHOPS WITH KATIE DELIMON\n\n\nLEAVE FEELING BLISSFULLY RELAXED!\n\n\nRestorative Yoga Session\n\n\nSUNDAYS; SEPT 23\, OCT 14\, AND NOV 18\n\n\n10AM – 12PM / $35 each OR $95 FOR ALL 3 PREPAID\n\n\n\n\n– Sept 23rd – Intro to Restorative Yoga\n\n\n– Oct 14th – Rainbow Restorative \n\n\n– Nov 18th – Rainbow Restorative II w/ Oils\n\n\n\n\nSunday\, Sept 23\nDeep Relaxing Immersion to Restorative Yoga\n“Experience the rest of your life with restorative yoga”\nJoin Katie Delimon in a 2-hour journey of Deep Relaxing Immersion to Restorative Yoga. Taking\ntime to relax and renew is essential to living well. The antidote to stress is relaxation. To relax is\nto rest deeply. This rest is different from sleep. Relaxation is a state in which there is no\nmovement\, no effort\, and the brain is quiet. Restorative yoga is “active relaxation.” By supporting\nthe body with props\, we alternately stimulate and relax the body to move toward balance.\nUnlike other exercise programs\, restorative yoga poses place a minimal demand on you. They add\nto your energy rather than subtract from it. During these periods of deep relaxation\, you will be\nhealed and nurtured from within.\nIn general\, restorative poses are for those times when you feel weak\, fatigued\, stressed\, injured\nor ill but is great to incorporate into your weekly practice to prevent such things from happening.\nIt encourages you to find the balance point between fast forward speed and collapsing in\nexhaustion. It teaches you how to perfect the “art of being relaxed.” Think of it as taking a short\nholiday in the yoga studio. Emerge fresh\, energised and empowered by the knowledge of how to\nincorporate restorative asanas into your yoga practice.\n***Attendees can purchase one of Katie’s “Paradise Pillows” at a special discounted price\nof only $20 and if you sign up for all 3 workshops you will be automatically entered into a\ndrawing to win a FREE pillow! \n\n\nBOOK SINGLE SESSION\nBOOK 3 SESSION AND SAVE

SUMMARY:Radiant Power
DESCRIPTION:26th August 2018\nFire | Radiant Power\n$90 before 24th August | $120 after 25th August \nThe fire element governs our solar plexus\, which is the home of personal power. Our ego\, sense of self\, inner and physical strength\, determination and dedication are all related to this energy center. How we show up in the world\, how we relate to\, what inspires us and why is the focus of this workshop. \nWhere do you find the wisdom to navigate your own uniqueness? What are the best sources of wisdom for you? Do you shy away from a challenge or do your over commit and find yourself left feeling burnt out? Understanding where your journey begins is essential. \nThis workshop will hold a space for you to question your motivations. Where you are in your journey and where you can take it. Tap into your inner coach\, look at your deepest values\, and acknowledge the critical voices and determine their validity. Is this voice really something you need to act on or is it the voice that has always keep you doing the same thing because it feels safe and familiar? \nIt’s time to tap into your power and own it\, and you own it by stepping up to whatever challenges confront you rather than running away.  \nOne way is to join us as we lead you through 108 Sun salutes –  The act of practicing 108 Sun Salutations draws together some very potent yogic practices that help us to work through challenges.  Bhakti (devotion\, when we are devoted we act from the heart) Seva (Selfless service) and Tapas ( effort\, heat\, discipline\, zeal). (click here to read more about Surya Namaskar (108 Sun Salutes))  \nThere are times when we feel sluggish and disconnected\, but when we turn up the heat – our burning desire to make an impactful difference pierce through our concerns\, doubts\, and fears that hold us back.  Have you ever felt that burst of energy that arises from knowing full body you’ve had enough? You have to change\, to act\, cause it hurts too much to do nothing This is an effortful act of surrender towards a higher purpose. This is equally a legitimate and potent opportunity to uplift and reinvigorate your yoga practice.  To bring in the fire to transform the mundane to the extraordinary. \n“I am told the Sun represents the physical and spiritual heart of the world. We salute the Sun to give thanks for a new day filled with life-giving light and sustenance. Based on the sacred cycle of 108- Surya Namaskar is a complete practice of mind\, body\, spirit. During the Ground to Grow Workshop I was given the opportunity and supported to participate in this powerful sequence that allowed me to lengthen\, strengthen\, flex and extend many of the main muscles of my body while distributing the prana flow throughout my system. The fluid\, rhythmic postures awakened the energy of my Inner Sun that laid dormant in my navel center for so long following my executive lifestyle and some recent trauma that caused me to feel numb and out of touch with my creative and playful side. As I moved through the postures I felt at ease even though I was focused in my mind and enlivened in my breath. It warmed my body and cultivated my inner fire. I walked away following this challenging and exhilarating karmic marathon feeling strong and able to face anything. I felt at peace yet awakened. I felt full of light and grace. I felt great. This workshop paved a path to the receptive state of meditation and transformation for me and I am so grateful for the experience that Tanya and Alison created for me” – Mariza \nx———————————————-x \nTaught by senior teachers Alison Sykes and Tanya Zappala\, this workshop has been created to help anchor you into something greater than just your yoga practice. In a supportive group environment\, you will be guided to adapt the teachings of yoga for your own evolution. Tanya and Alison provide an opportunity to connect with like-minded people\, form friendships\, gain knowledge to improve your yoga practice in a warm\, empathetic and fun environment. Learn the best alignment for you in yoga postures (Asana). Breathing practices (Pranayama) to reduce wear and tear as well as nourish your organs and nervous system. Inspirational Philosophy talks and learn how Meditation can be instinctive and empowering. \nEach student will work in their own way\, at their own pace and learn how these ancient teachings can be applied to their own busy modern life. ‘We may have advanced in may ways materially and with technology\, but when it comes to our emotions\, thoughts\, feeling or our spirituality\, we are still babes in the woods’. These workshops provide the perfect place and space that isn’t always available in general yoga classes. \nBOOK IN HERE

SUMMARY:RESTorative Yoga - 10 Dec
DESCRIPTION:Sometimes you’ve just got to slow everything right down.\nWhen your life is racing full-speed ahead\, so is your mind. Restorative yoga helps provide that physical and mental balance to prevent stress and anxiety\, through the use of props that allow you to hold poses longer\, giving you all the benefits of deep\, passive stretching. \nBenefit from Full and Deep Stretches –  Long\, supported poses help your body to fully engage\, soften\, and allow the precise positioning to work its magic. \nEnhance Flexibility – Restorative yoga is not a stretching class\, instead you are exploring what happens when you release the tension your body habitually holds. \nFind out Where You Hold Your Stress – Holding poses longer in a relaxed state gives you the opportunity to notice where you hold this tension.  Once you come to this realization\, the benefits come with you off the mat so in your everyday life you can help to reduce the stress and tension you allow to build up in your body. \nTrim Fat and Lose Weight – A 2013 study from the University of California\, San Diego compared restorative yoga with a more active stretching regime over 48 weeks\, and found that women practicing yoga lost more subcutaneous fat. The yogis also lost more weight than the stretchers. One explanation may be that restorative yoga reduces cortisol levels—of which high levels are linked to increased abdominal fat. \nBoost Your Immune System – slowing down consciously relaxes the mental drain on your nervous system. A regular restorative yoga practice helps to improve your immune system and makes you less of a victim in the face of all those cold and flu viruses flying around. \nBalance Your Nervous System – slowing down take your body into a state that allows for renewal and rejuvenation. Your nervous system goes from fight and flight (The sympathetic nervous system is activated in cases of emergencies to mobilize energy) to rest and digest (the parasympathetic nervous system is activated when organisms are in a relaxed state). Benefits include optimizing energy flow to the organs\, tissue renewal\, and reduced “fight or flight” response. \nQuiet Your Mind – like a calming hug for your overstimulated mind. It may look like restorative yoga is taking a nap\, but once you get into them\, you realize how challenging they can be. Be patient; just because your body is resting doesn’t mean your mind will automatically grow silent. Over time\, you will learn how to drop into a place of stillness and be content peacefully basking in the present moment. \nRecover from Illness – We all need rest\, whether or not you’re recovering from muscle strain\, a broken bone\, a bad flu\, or a chronic illness. Just because you’re not practicing more “active” asanas doesn’t mean you can’t benefit from yoga’s healing powers. Restorative yoga allows you to practice when your energy is low and your body is building strength. \nHeal Emotional Pain – Just as you need to build physical strength after illness\, you need to heal emotional injuries. Restorative poses offer soothing care for when you are processing the loss of a loved one or a relationship\, coming to terms with a change in your life\, or dealing with depression or anxiety. \nSegue to a Meditation Practice – If you want to benefit from meditation and you’re not sure how to start or how to continue\, Restorative yoga provides a bridge between familiar poses and\, to many\, the unfamiliar and often intimidating practice of meditation. You may feel vulnerable\, emotional or anxious when practicing Restorative yoga—this is all part of the powerful process where you create space and let go. Wearing an eye mask\, wrapping yourself in a blanket\, or keeping your feet up on the wall can help ground and calm you. \nSome poses help your heart\, some assist your lungs. Others benefit the entire body. All are nourishing and life-enhancing when practiced regularly.
