OUR CURRENT READ

Reflecting on our previous exploration of the transformative power of rituals, we delved into the profound connections and sensitivities they nurture within ourselves and the world around us. We recognised rituals as potent practices on the path of self-discovery and mindfulness. Given that rituals amplify sensitivity and awareness, one member shared her experience of feeling emotionally drained by specific individuals. As you become more in tune with where you feel happiest and content, others in our lives may not agree with your changes. This inspired the theme for our upcoming reading: the importance of learning how to safeguard oneself.

Judith Orloff’s books cater specifically to Empaths—individuals with a heightened ability to perceive and understand emotions, feelings, and energies within themselves and others. Orloff’s books offer invaluable guidance in this regard.

If you are new to Judith’s work, whether you are new to understanding what it means to be an empath or unsure if you are one, I recommend starting with her book “Emotional Freedom”. Judith’s other books are for those who are already aware of their empathic nature and would like to further develop skills to protect and empower themselves…. read more about these books.

FOR EXTRA on topic with Books “Big Magic” and “Power of Ritual”.  Listen to “The Mel Robbins Podcoast” – “Want to be Happier Right Now?, New Surprising Science from Dr Judith Joseph”

From our last meetup, the group enthusiastically embraced Brene Brown’s “Atlas of the Heart.” This book, aptly sub-titled “The Language of the Human Experience” by Brene, serves as a wellspring of inspiration for the group, motivating them to delve deeper into their own emotions and experiences.

This Audio works beautifully with “Atlas of the Heart”.  This recording of Rising Strong as a Spiritual Practice is from an event Brene Brown ran emphasising the importance of having atleast 30 different words to express your emotions/feelings.  Most people have about 3 words which leaves alot of people feeling like their mouths are duct tapped shut when trying to communicate the discomfort or pain they feel inside.  Having a greater understanding and an abundance of ways to express allows for clear communication and less frustration.
