Your Yoga practice starts with listening to your body (your internal teacher) and working to whatever limitations are presenting themselves each time you practice. We offer a variety of classes to give you a choice of either a flowing stronger class or something slower that gives more time for a deeper stretch. Having a combination of the two during the week will help to bring you back to balance. If you have never done yoga before then it is recommended to start with any of the Slow Deep Stretch, Yin Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Rest and Restore classes.

For those new to Yoga please note that the Classes below are listed in order from a gentle deep stretch, to a stronger advanced practice.

SLOW DEEP STRETCH

Slow Deep Stretch is ideal if you are new to yoga, mature aged, or wanting a slower paced class. You don’t have to be a beginner to benefit from the slower gentle movements, giving you more space to breath and dive deeper into the stretch. Even the most experienced yogi will benefit from savouring the effects of each yoga posture (asana).

Suitable for students New to Yoga, mature aged, or after a slower paced class. You don’t have to be a beginner to benefit from the slower gentle movements. These classes give you more time to focus on your breath and time to dive deeper into the stretch. Even the most experienced yogi will benefit from savouring the effects of each yoga posture (asana).

YIN YOGA

Yin Yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga where poses, or asanas, are held for slightly longer periods then the other classes. This way Yin yoga can effectively focus more on the connective tissues surrounding the muscles and joints for a greater increase of blood flow to nourish and rejuvenate the ‘targeted areas’. When your body stops moving the muscles, even the mind, can relax. A perfect balance to the stronger (yang) practices or fast paced lifestyles. Slowing down we pay more attention preventing physical and mental exhaustion. A complimentary class for all athletes or anyone with tight sore bodies.

ALIGN AND FLOW with INVERSIONS

Suitable for anyone wishing to practice the benefits of inversion. Some Yoga Experience is suggested before attending.

This is an alignment focused class to progressively support students to invert their bodies safely. Options and modifications are offered to support the journey upside down.

When you are upright, gravity pulls the tissues and fluids in your body downwards, including blood to your feet.  When you are upside down, you reverse the blood flow in your body and it encourages venous return – the return of blood flows back to the heart.

Technically, an inversion in yoga is anything that brings your hips above your heart and your heart above your head. Downward-facing dog can be considered an inversion.

There are a number of benefits of practicing yoga inversions.

1. Gives your heart a break – use gravity instead

2. Helps your lymphatic system – supports your immune system

3. Energizes you and builds confidence

4. Improves your balance

5. Builds core strength

6. Forces you to focus

7. Releases your ego and helps you practice non-attachment

8. Provides a new perspective
